Artists comment...'The Degeneration series':
'Without seeing this work in the flesh it is very hard to get a feel for what it is about. By laying down many thin layers of paint you build a foundation. The image is then created using a sharp craft knife to scrape away paint thus revealing various tones and in some cases peeling away the soft Somerset paper. These pieces mean a great deal to me as I feel they are some of the most tactile work I have made, they make you want to run your fingers over them to get a sense of the texture, yet they are extremely fragile. For me they represent a sense of trying to get control whilst simultaneously losing control'.
